Prospect Heights (Pawtucket Housing Authority Pawtucket, RI)
Phase 2
560 Prospect is Pawtucket Rhode Island’s first and only New Deal-era federally funded public housing project, as such it is on the National Register of Historic Places. This will be the first Federal Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) project in Rhode Island and the first RAD project nationwide to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Omni Development and Winn Development were thrilled to partner of the revitalization of 191 low-income housing units. This was the first time the property had been renovated in well over 30 years. Updated units include amenities such as new kitchens, refinished bathrooms with brand new fixtures, new ventilation systems, new windows and heating systems, rehabilitated interior finishes, and brand new landscaping and fences. For Phase 2 of Prospect Heights, 52 people were hired. Nearly 20% of those new hires qualified for Section 3 designation. Well over 60% of the hours spent on the job were performed by women and minorities.
Phase 3
In addition to the overhaul of the 292 apartments, two new townhouse-style buildings will be built, adding 20 new Low Income Housing Tax Credit units for those earning at or below 60 percent of Area Median Income. Alltownhomesat Prospect Heights will receive new kitchens and bathrooms with Energy Star-rated appliances and fixtures, new flooring and windows, and new boilers and roofs. A modern security system will be installed, and patio areas and landscaping will be renovated. An updated community room and laundry room, a new playground, and parking lot improvement also will be delivered. Once finished, Prospect Heights at 560 Prospect Street, will offer a fitness center, community garden, summer camps, educational programs for teenagers, and after school programs. During Phase 3 of Prospect Heights, Over 70 % of the hours spent on site were performed by women and minorities. So far, 20 people have been hired, of which 30% have qualified for Section 3 designation.
